Frameless Shower Enclosure in Niche Opening, Port Coquitlam
Port Coquitlam, BC

Project Overview
Custom frameless shower glass enclosure fabricated and installed within a recessed niche opening in a Port Coquitlam new home build, completed with SM Caissie Construction.
The Challenge
SM Caissie Construction builds high-quality residential homes in the Tri-Cities. This project required a frameless shower enclosure within a recessed tile niche — a configuration where the glass must be cut to fit precisely inside three finished tile walls with no exterior trim to conceal fit errors. The travertine-look tile work showed measurable wall angle variation at multiple heights, making a standard square cut unworkable.
Our Solution
WaveGlass laser-templated all three interior wall surfaces of the niche opening, capturing exact widths at top, middle, and base to map the angle variation. The 10mm tempered panels were custom-cut with precision raked edges to absorb the wall inconsistency exactly. The glass was installed using minimal clear silicone, with polished chrome hinges and a matching pull handle aligned to the home's plumbing fixture selections.
The Result
The enclosure sits flush within the niche with tight, even sightlines and a fully watertight silicone seal. SM Caissie Construction noted the precision of the templating process eliminated the rework they had experienced with other glazing suppliers. WaveGlass remains a preferred glazing trade for SM Caissie Construction on Tri-Cities new builds.
